Expert Explains: XRPN Locks Supply and Unlocks XRP Price
Evernorth’s plan to generate yield from its XRP treasury could influence how institutions manage the asset and how much XRP remains available for trading.
Digital Asset Investor believes this strategy could support a significant price increase if institutional products, lending arrangements, and exchange-traded funds lead to more XRP being held for extended periods.
In a video accompanying his tweet, Digital Asset Investor discussed comments from Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse about institutional investment products and potential yield opportunities involving XRP. He interpreted Garlinghouse’s remarks as a sign that financial products could encourage investors to hold XRP rather than buy and sell it.
Garlinghouse made the comments during an interview connected to Evernorth’s public market debut. The XRP treasury company celebrated the occasion at the Nasdaq closing bell ceremony on October 14, 2026, after listing on October 12 under the ticker XRPN.
Garlinghouse Points to Institutional Products and Yield
During the interview, Garlinghouse discussed how on-chain capabilities could support yield generation and the development of institutional investment products. He explained that these products could give investors access to cryptocurrency markets they might otherwise struggle to enter.
He also suggested that XRP could benefit from new yield opportunities developed both on-chain and off-chain. Such products could give institutions additional reasons to hold XRP beyond expectations of price appreciation.
Digital Asset Investor focused on the potential effect these strategies could have on the circulating supply. He noted that investors who commit XRP to yield-generating arrangements could reduce the amount readily available for trading.
He also connected this possibility to XRP exchange-traded funds, suggesting that continued fund inflows could lead to more XRP being acquired and held. In his view, sustained accumulation through treasury companies and investment products could place upward pressure on the asset’s price.
Evernorth’s Treasury Strategy
Evernorth’s business model provides context for that argument. The company holds approximately 473 million XRP and intends to pursue yield-generating strategies rather than retain its holdings as passive reserves.
Its planned approach includes working with institutional counterparties and exploring opportunities involving lending and liquidity provision. The company has also identified potential future applications within decentralized finance on the XRP Ledger.
These activities could allow Evernorth to generate income from its treasury, although the results will depend on market conditions, counterparties, and the risks associated with each strategy. XRP used in lending or liquidity arrangements may also remain economically accessible to borrowers or other market participants, depending on the terms.
Digital Asset Investor’s argument rests on the possibility that yield-generating products could create additional reasons to hold XRP. Whether that demand produces a sustained price increase will depend on the scale and long-term success of these strategies.
