David Schwartz’s XRP Price Update
David Schwartz has never been known for taking himself too seriously. His latest response to criticism is a good example of that. Crypto commentator Digital Asset Investor (@digitalassetbuy) highlighted an exchange involving Schwartz on X.
Someone asked Schwartz for an update on XRP’s price, as many community members do, often hoping to hear Ripple’s plan to increase the asset’s price. Instead, Schwartz responded with an actual price update, saying XRP’s price was “around $1.30 or so, up 2.4% in the past 24 hours.” Digital Asset Investor found it amusing. He called it a “smart aleck answer.”
He also noted that attacks on Schwartz and Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse over XRP had been “crazy the last few days.” The response shows Schwartz is not rattled by the criticism currently surrounding Ripple’s leadership, and has maintained his humorous nature.
The Criticism Surrounding Ripple Leadership
The scrutiny on Schwartz and Garlinghouse has intensified recently. Community members and commentators have raised questions about XRP’s role in Ripple’s business as RLUSD activity grows. Some have questioned whether Ripple’s payment volumes actually benefit XRP holders directly, as the assets price has not reflected it.
Others have read executive public statements as short on confidence. RLUSD has been a major point of contention as many believe it is slowly taking XRP’s role. Ripple has consistently affirmed that RLUSD will not replace XRP, but the asset’s recent price struggle despite positive news in the market has discouraged many investors.
Schwartz has remained active in these conversations. After questions arose about his five-year vision for XRP, he replied on X to explain his thinking. His view is that institutional adoption builds the foundation for retail participation to follow.
Where XRP Stands Now
At the time Schwartz gave his price update, XRP sat at approximately $1.30. Since then, the token has dropped. XRP is now trading at $1.21, down more than 7% in 24 hours. The decline comes as broader crypto market conditions remain volatile.
XRP has struggled to hold recent gains, and the replies were filled with comments that did not appreciate the humorous tone.
While analysts are confident in XRP’s future, market participants are growing increasingly frustrated as the asset fails to build positive momentum over and over again. The question holders keep returning to is how Ripple’s partnerships and expansion translate into an XRP price increase.
