Wall Street Retirement Money Could Flow Into Crypto: 5 Altcoins Worth Accumulating Before the Next Bull Run

  • The White House is reviewing changes that could make cryptocurrency investments more accessible through American 401(k) retirement plans.
  • Greater retirement-market participation could introduce new sources of long-term capital into the cryptocurrency industry.
  • DOT, DOGE, APT, BNB, and ENA represent five different crypto sectors that could attract attention as institutional access develops.

The relationship between Wall Street and cryptocurrency could enter another phase as U.S. policymakers consider changes to retirement investment rules. The White House has reportedly reviewed a proposal that could make it easier for Americans to gain cryptocurrency exposure through employer-sponsored 401(k) retirement accounts. The development has attracted attention because retirement savings represent a significant source of investment capital that traditionally flows into stocks, bonds, and other financial instruments.

According to the Investment Company Institute, U.S. retirement assets reached approximately $51.2 trillion in June 2026, including $10.8 trillion in 401(k) accounts. It’s a significant investment market whose dynamics may be opened to digital asset investments in the future if conditions change. But the proposed changes don’t necessarily guarantee that retirement funds will invest in bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.

As more people gain access to cryptocurrency, exposure to the cryptocurrency market may begin to be part of the retirement investment conversation. This progress can likewise spur conventional financial institutions to consider the blockchain infrastructure, digital asset products, and existing cryptocurrency networks. In this context, there are five altcoins that stand out as they cater to various areas of the digital asset market.

Polkadot (DOT): Blockchain Connectivity Could Attract Attention

Polkadot’s strength lies in its ability to create a blockchain-to-blockchain interoperability infrastructure that enables independent blockchain networks to work together. It supports many networks to communicate and share information without having to run totally independently.

With traditional financial institutions examining blockchain applications, one question that may arise is whether the blockchain is ready to be interoperable with the current systems. With the rise in investment in Blockchain Infrastructure, DOT may gain more attention as well. But if it is to be adopted by the network, the activity of developers and the demand for its ecosystem will be the determining factors for long-term performance.

Dogecoin (DOGE): Established Recognition Keeps It Relevant

Dogecoin continues to be one of the most popular alternative cryptocurrencies. It has a robust market presence and large community and has helped to keep it visible throughout the various market cycles. More people investing in cryptocurrencies could bring more traditional investors to the mainstream digital investment products. This could be a development that DOGE will benefit from, but the price of DOGE is heavily influenced by market sentiment, trading volumes and speculation.

Aptos (APT): Layer-1 Development Remains Important

Aptos is part of the Layer-1 blockchain competition. It is known for its network features of scalability and application efficiency based on smart contracts. More attention will likely be paid to blockchain networks that provide decentralized applications if more institutions become interested in blockchain technology. However, Aptos will need to draw developers, users, and applications to further build a strong long-term demand for APT.

BNB: Its Blockchain Ecosystem Could Benefit From Wider Interest

BNB is used for transactions and applications on the BNB Chain ecosystem. It is used for a number of blockchain services as well as network charges and for decentralized apps. Once it’s easier to invest in cryptocurrencies in traditional financial products, the traditional ones would likely be looked at more. The performance of BNB will continue to rely on the activity of its ecosystems, the development of its regulations, competition, and the overall market situation.

Ethena (ENA): DeFi Exposure Could Become More Relevant

Ethena is a representative of decentralized finance (DeFi) with its synthetic dollar solution and USDe ecosystem. It has a protocol that offers an alternative to digital assets that are denominated in dollars.

Decentralized finance (DeFi) may gain the attention of other financial institutions as they enter the area of exploring blockchain-based financial products. Enhancing the involvement of the ecosystem could be beneficial for ENA; however, adoption of the protocol, generating revenue, and the stability of the underlying mechanisms should also be taken into account.

Retirement Policy Could Influence the Next Crypto Investment Cycle

The financial cross-pollination between traditional markets and cryptocurrencies has become the subject of discussion thanks to the fact that retirement investments in the U.S. can be exposed to cryptocurrencies. But regulation is not enough to ensure increased cryptocurrency prices and inflow of investments.

For DOT, DOGE, APT, BNB and ENA, the demand will remain strong when the projects go on in the future, as well as market liquidity, adoption and general economic situation. The potential benefits from the proposed changes are increased access to investment opportunities, but it will take further movement in the regulatory process to determine how effective the changes will be.

Just bet on AI and already faced a market blow! Berkshire reports earnings tonight, Abel faces a major test in his transformation

Greg Abel has been leading Berkshire Hathaway for less than a year, yet he has already made a bet of over $10.9 billion on the AI sector, marking a complete break from Buffett’s traditional avoidance of tech stocks. However, Alphabet’s stock price has fallen below their initial purchase cost, and Bending Spoons continues to decline, putting this bold AI gamble to the test. At the same time, third-quarter earnings per share are expected to drop 6% year-over-year, and the share repurchase program is likely to plummet from $4.5 billion to $1.6 billion. How to deploy $358 billion in cash will be a major challenge for the new leader’s capital allocation skills.

Has the AI bubble burst? Goldman Sachs: It's more like 1998 than 2000 right now

The Goldman Sachs trading desk stated that the current wave of sell-offs resembles the 1998 liquidity crisis more than the bursting of the 2000 bubble. It is a forced deleveraging rather than a refutation of business fundamentals. The market is drastically repricing construction financing and timeline expectations, rather than underlying demand. Moreover, the issues currently drawing the most attention from the market—electricity and licensing—are actually the least important, as limited supply does not equate to disappearing demand. The real question that needs to be answered is whether long-term revenues can ultimately justify the capital invested.
