Zhihu Finance APP has learned, according to three sources familiar with the matter, that AstraZeneca (AZN.US) once made an offer to acquire obesity drug developer Rhythm Pharmaceuticals (RYTM.US) for approximately $1 billion. The sources said that AstraZeneca’s non-binding acquisition proposal offered up to $134 per share, including payments contingent on achieving certain milestone objectives. Driven by this news, Rhythm’s shares closed up 28% on Wednesday at $110.68.
