11:52 AM EST, 11/04/2026 (MT Newswires) -- All three major US stock indexes were up over 1.5% in late-morning trading Wednesday after Democrats won the midterm elections decisively on Tuesday, taking control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives. In company news, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) reported fiscal Q3 adjusted earnings late Tuesday of $2.09 per diluted share, up from $1.20 a year earlier and above the FactSet consensus of $1.95. Revenue was $13.38 billion, up from $9.25 billion a year ago and above the FactSet consensus of $13.10 billion. For fiscal Q4, the company expects revenue of about $17 billion, plus or minus 3%. AMD shares were up 0.6% around midday. CVS Health (CVS) said Wednesday it plans to split its business into two companies in early 2028, separating its retail pharmacies business from its insurance and pharmacy-benefit operations. Once the separation is complete CVS Health Chairman and Chief Executive David Joyner will become chairman and CEO of the healthcare solutions company, while current CVS Health Group President Prem Shah will become CEO of CVS Pharmacy, the company said. CVS shares were down 11.4%. Meta Platforms (META) is seeking as much as 9 billion euros ($10.1 billion) from its first euro bond sale, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing a person familiar with the matter. Later, Bloomberg reported that Meta received a record 53 billion euros of investor demand for the euro bond sale. Separately, Meta, Amazon (AMZN), CoreWeave (CRWV) and other data center developers could face increased regulatory hurdles for planned AI projects following Democratic victories in several US gubernatorial races, most notably in Texas, which accounts for nearly 30% of US data center capacity and just elected Democrat Gina Hinojosa, who has pledged to halt new data center approvals until lawmakers establish additional protections for local communities, Bloomberg reported Wednesday. Meta shares were up 1.7%, while Amazon and CoreWeave shares were up 6.4% and down 8.5%, respectively. Fidelity National Information Services (FIS) reported Q3 adjusted diluted EPS Wednesday of $1.61, up from $1.51 a year earlier and above the FactSet consensus of $1.60. Revenue was $3.45 billion, up from $2.72 billion a year ago and above the FactSet consensus of $3.43 billion. For full-year 2026, the company expects adjusted EPS of $5.82 to $5.89, down from its prior guidance of $6.15 to $6.24, and revenue of $13.45 billion to $13.51 billion, down from its prior guidance of $13.63 billion to $13.695 billion. Analysts polled by FactSet expect $6.20 and $13.66 billion, respectively. Additionally, FIS Chief Financial Officer James Kehoe will step down on Nov. 5. Overnight US stock market crash: A reflexivity storm triggered by a $100 billion “early exit”

A wave of $100 billion in mechanical selling pressure triggered a "head start" on Wall Street, but these early moves by smart money instead accelerated the sell-off: the Nasdaq fell 6.4% in a single day, semiconductors plunged 12%, and the “best of the year” AI and energy barbell trades collapsed within 48 hours. Even more dangerously, lagging selling pressure is still on its way. This reflexive storm demonstrates that when everyone knows the same script and acts on it simultaneously, the script itself stops working.

S&P evaporates 2.8 trillion in a single day, BTIG warns: This is not the bottom, the real sell-off has just begun

BTIG Chief Technical Strategist Krinsky warns that yesterday's sharp decline in the US stock market is not the bottom, but just the beginning. Nearly 70% of S&P 500 components are still trading above their 200-day moving average, and elevated breadth indicators suggest that the sell-off is far from over. If "defensive sectors" such as healthcare and consumer staples start to fall as well, the real "generals and soldiers falling together" will occur, and the S&P may head straight for 7000 points.
