01:01 PM EDT, 10/23/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were lower in Friday afternoon trading, with the NYSE Financial Index dropping 1.1% and the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) off 1.2%. The Philadelphia Housing Index was down 0.8%, and the State Street Real Estate Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLRE) fell 0.1%. Bitcoin (BTC-USD) was increasing 0.5% to $81,613 and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries was rising 3.7 basis points to 4.99%. In corporate news, American Express (AXP) reported Q3 revenue just below Wall Street's expectations on Friday, while the payments company's chief executive disclosed plans to terminate about 5% of its global workforce. Its shares fell 4%.
