FCC Grants Intel One-Year Waiver From Foreign Robotics Ban

MT newswireMT newswire2026/10/23 10:18
06:18 AM EDT, 10/23/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The Federal Communications Commission, or FCC, said Thursday it granted Intel (INTC) a one-year waiver from its ban on certain foreign-made advanced robotics to prevent disruptions to semiconductor manufacturing services for the company's customers. The FCC said Intel requested the waiver because suitable domestic alternatives were unavailable and replacing the equipment could take years and disrupt manufacturing. The waiver will allow Intel to maintain services for its customers while avoiding potential operational interruptions, the agency said. The waiver applies only to the specified vehicles and modifications outlined in Intel's filing and does not change the rules governing covered equipment more broadly, the regulator said. Intel did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
