American Water Works' Pennsylvania Unit Awarded $42.65 Million for Water, Wastewater Projects

03:48 PM EDT, 10/22/2026 (MT Newswires) -- American Water Works (AWK) unit Pennsylvania American Water was awarded grants and low-interest loans totaling $42.65 million from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority for water and wastewater projects in Lackawanna and Montgomery counties. A $38 million loan will fund the construction of two storage facilities in Scranton to reduce combined sewer overflows into the Lackawanna River, the company said. A $3.02 million grant and a $1.63 million loan will fund the replacement of about 240 lead and galvanized water service lines in Norristown, the company said.
