Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Mixed Premarket Thursday

09:10 AM EDT, 10/22/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were mixed premarket Thursday, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) up 1% and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) 1.3% lower. Procter & Gamble (PG) stock was up more than 2% after the company reported higher fiscal Q1 core earnings and net sales. Coca-Cola (KO), Nestle and Danone have committed to revise recycling claims on plastic bottles following discussions with the European Commission and national consumer protection authorities, the Commission said. Coca-Cola shares were up more than 1% pre-bell. InterContinental Hotels (IHG) said global revenue per available room jumped 5.3% in Q3 at constant exchange rates, or 5.5% at actual rates. InterContinental Hotels stock was 0.9% lower premarket.
