American Airlines Q3 Adjusted Loss Widens, Revenue Rises; Trims 2026 Forecast -- Shares Down Pre-bell

07:27 AM EDT, 10/22/2026 (MT Newswires) -- American Airlines (AAL) reported a Q3 adjusted loss Thursday of $0.28 per diluted share, wider than a loss of $0.17 a year earlier. Analysts polled by FactSet expected an adjusted loss of $0.36. Total operating revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30 was $16.34 billion, up from $13.69 billion a year earlier. Analysts expected $16.21 billion. For Q4, the airline expects adjusted loss of $1.10 to $0.50 per diluted share and revenue growth of 19.5% to 22.5%. Analysts expect an adjusted loss of $0.52. For 2026, the company said it now expects an adjusted loss of $1.60 to $1 per diluted share, compared with previous range of $0.65 adjusted loss to $0.65 adjusted EPS. Analysts expect an adjusted loss of $1.03. Shares of the company were down 4% in premarket activity Thursday.
