Planet Labs Receives NASA Task Order to Evaluate Tanager Satellite Data

10:22 AM EDT, 10/21/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Planet Labs (PL) said Wednesday its subsidiary, Planet Labs Federal, secured a task order from NASA for the space agency to evaluate the company's high-resolution Tanager hyperspectral dataset for Earth science research. Under the agreement, NASA will acquire Tanager data covering more than 250,000 square kilometers to assess top-of-atmosphere and bottom-of-atmosphere surface reflectance data products. Upon completion of the evaluation, NASA will publish a report detailing the data's quality, utility and potential for broader integration across Earth science research initiatives, the company said.
