Alcon Acquires Neurotech for $550 Million

05:01 PM EDT, 10/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Alcon (ALC) said late Tuesday it has acquired Neurotech Pharmaceuticals, which focuses on developing cell therapies for chronic and neurodegenerative eye diseases, for $550 million. The acquisition expands its retina portfolio with Encelto, an encapsulated cell therapy for surgical implantation in the eye for patients with MacTel Type 2, a rare retinal disease, it said. Alcon said it may be required to make additional contingent payments, including upon the achievement of milestones. The company said it expects the deal to be modestly accretive to net sales growth and slightly dilutive to core EPS in 2027.
