Sector Update: Energy

01:18 PM EDT, 10/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were lower Tuesday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index easing 0.1% and the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) down 0.2%. The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index was increasing 0.4%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index climbed up 1.3%. Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 0.3% to $103.98 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract shed 0.5% to $109.01 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures fell 2.8% to $2.97 per 1 million BTU. In corporate news, Deep Fission (FISN) said Tuesday it signed a 25-year power purchase agreement with the Great Plains Development Authority to supply electricity to tenants at a Kansas industrial park where the company is developing a nuclear reactor. Deep Fission shares were down 17%.
