Penumbra Says FDA Clears CAVT Technology for Deep Vein Thrombosis

10:20 AM EDT, 10/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Penumbra (PEN) said Tuesday that the US Food and Drug Administration has cleared its Lightning computer assisted vacuum thrombectomy, or CAVT, technology for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis. The indication was supported by results from an investigational device exemption trial that demonstrated 30-day patency rates of 88.8% to 96.3% across treated vessels and reduced leg pain, with a re-thrombosis rate of 3.9% within 30 days, the company said.
