October Philadelphia Fed Regional Nonmanufacturing Activity Index Falls

08:45 AM EDT, 10/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank's monthly nonmanufacturing activity index fell to minus 23.6 in October from minus 22.0 in the previous month, indicating more widespread contraction in the sector. The reading for employment declined while those for new orders, sales and prices all increased in the month. The six-month outlook at the regional level fell with 35.1% of respondents expecting contraction in the region compared with 26.1% that expected expansion.
