Nomura Fined $0.4 Million by German Regulator

04:20 AM EDT, 10/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Nomura (NMR) was fined 0.3 million euros ($0.4 million) by Germany's market regulator BaFin for allegedly failing to disclose its voting rights in Commerzbank in a timely manner, the regulator said Tuesday. The incident stemmed from UniCredit's takeover offer for Commerzbank in May and June 2026, the regulator said. Under German securities law, shareholders must notify the issuer and BaFin within four trading days if voting rights surpass certain thresholds, the company said. The regulator said the disclosure requirements are intended to improve capital-market transparency and investor confidence. Nomura did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
