Globalstar Says FCC Authorizes Third-Generation C-3 Satellite System Operations in US

09:44 AM EDT, 10/19/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Globalstar (GSAT) said Monday the US Federal Communications Commission has issued an order allowing it to operate its third-generation C-3 satellite system in the country. Following the authorization, Globalstar's C-3 satellites will be able to communicate with mobile earth terminals in the US, including direct-to-device connectivity to smartphones, the company said. The authorization also allows Globalstar's ground station antennas in Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico to communicate with its C-3 satellites, it said. The C-3 system will have 48 low Earth orbit satellites and 6 in-orbit spares, backed by about 90 ground station antennas globally to support direct-to-device connectivity, Globalstar said.
