Nasdaq Rebounds After Friday's Tech Selloff -- WSJ
Dow Jones2026/10/19 13:37By Rebecca Feng
Tech stocks are staging a recovery.
After a bleak end to last week, the Nasdaq composite has jumped over 1%, while the Dow industrials are muted. Oil is slipping and Treasury yields are stable.
In Europe, the picture is less rosy. Major stock indexes are in the red and French government bonds are selling off after nationwide cost-of-living protests spiraled out of control over the weekend.
The demonstrations underscored how hard it will be for any government to curb public spending, at a time when the country's debt is ballooning. Longer-dated French bonds are reversing what had been a nascent recovery over the past week, pushing up the government's borrowing costs. The euro has slipped against the dollar.
