Alpha Tau Medical Gets FDA Approval to Expand Brain Cancer Trial

09:05 AM EDT, 10/19/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Alpha Tau Medical (DRTS) said Monday the US Food and Drug Administration approved an investigational device exemption, or IDE, supplement allowing it to double enrollment in its US trial of its therapy, Alpha DaRT, for recurrent glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. The company said the trial can now enroll up to 20 patients, up from 10, at three US academic cancer centers. The revised protocol also allows patients with IDH-mutant grade 4 tumors to participate, adds progression-free survival as a secondary endpoint and introduces regular quality-of-life assessments, it added. Alpha Tau said the expanded study could generate additional data to support potential regulatory submissions for the treatment. Shares of the company were up 5% in Monday's premarket activity.
