KKR Faces EU Probe Over Information Provided in 2024 NetCo Acquisition Review

06:24 AM EDT, 10/19/2026 (MT Newswires) -- KKR (KKR) faces a Statement of Objections from the European Commission over allegedly providing incorrect or misleading information during the Commission's 2024 investigation of its acquisition of NetCo, the regulator said Monday. The Commission preliminarily found that KKR may have negligently provided inaccurate information about long-term wholesale access agreements for FiberCop's fixed-line broadband network in Italy. The Commission cleared the deal in May 2024, relying on KKR's submissions, but opened a formal investigation in July 2025 after operators alleged that FiberCop had unilaterally raised prices under existing agreements, the Commission added. NetCo comprises the fixed-line network business of Telecom Italia, as well as FiberCop, a joint venture of Telecom Italia and KKR, according to the regulator.
