MT newswireMT newswire2026/10/19 08:39
04:39 AM EDT, 10/19/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Woodside Energy (WDS) said it has restarted commissioning work on its $12 billion Scarborough liquefied natural gas project offshore Western Australia, after Greenpeace activists occupied a drilling platform over the weekend, Bloomberg reported on Monday. The company said the unauthorized access incident involving the Scarborough floating production unit had been resolved and commissioning activities had restarted. The Scarborough development is more than 98% complete, and plans initial cargo shipments before year-end. Two men have been charged in the platform occupation and could face a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, according to a joint statement from the Australian Border Force, state police and the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority. Representatives from Woodside Energy did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
