CoreWeave Bonds Extend Slide -- WSJ

Prices of CoreWeave bonds are slumping again in early trading, spreading alarm on Wall Street about the impact of rising borrowing costs on the artificial-intelligence investment boom.

CoreWeave's 9.625% notes due in 2032 recently changed hands at 76.5 cents on the dollar, according to MarketAxess, down from 77.875 cents at the end of Wednesday and around 83 cents on Friday. The bonds are now offering a yield of around 16%, more than 11 percentage points above the comparable U.S. Treasury yield.

CoreWeave's bonds have been taking a beating all week. On Wednesday, the pain spread to its shares, which fell 15%, helping spark a broader downturn in technology stocks.

A former crypto mining company, CoreWeave has borrowed heavily to become a major AI cloud computing provider, leasing out vast clusters of advanced computer chips needed to power applications like OpenAI's ChatGPT. That has raised questions about its ability to cope with higher borrowing costs, as the Federal Reserve has started raising interest rates to fight inflation.
