MT newswireMT newswire2026/10/15 12:23
08:23 AM EDT, 10/15/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Canadian Solar's (CSIQ) Recurrent Energy said Thursday its Villameca solar project in Castilla y Leon, Spain, started commercial operations at 200 megawatts of capacity. The plant is expected to generate about 359,172 megawatt-hours of electricity a year, enough to power more than 100,000 homes and avoid roughly 57,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, the company said. Combined with the 426-MW Rey project and the 315-MW Tordesillas project due to connect later this year, Recurrent Energy's operating solar capacity in Spain is expected to reach about 1 gigawatt by year-end, the company said. Canadian Solar shares were down 1.3% in Thursday premarket activity.
