Market Chatter: OpenAI Agrees Not to Use Allegedly Stolen Apple Trade Secrets

MT newswireMT newswire2026/10/15 09:39
05:39 AM EDT, 10/15/2026 (MT Newswires) -- OpenAI has voluntarily agreed not to use the trade secrets that Apple (AAPL) alleges were stolen by former employees who left the tech giant to join the ChatGPT-maker, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday, citing a court hearing. OpenAI is embroiled in a legal battle with Apple over allegations that it schemed to obtain intellectual property related to upcoming products through former employees of the iPhone maker. During the court hearing, US District Judge Edward Davila said he was "highly likely" to side with Apple and issue an injunction against OpenAI, Bloomberg reported. The agreement also requires OpenAI to collect forensic images of devices belonging to 14 employees that may contain Apple's confidential information, according to the report. OpenAI and Apple didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
