Equinor scales back Troll electrification plan, drops second compressor installation
Bitget2026/10/15 08:06- Equinor will complete the Troll West electrification project without installing the second electric export compressor planned for Troll C.
- Partial electrification cuts annual CO₂ emissions by around 330,000 tonnes, approximately 75% of the original 440,000-tonne target.
- Installing the second compressor would have reduced Troll C production for up to 21 months.
- Skipping installation is expected to release around 2,300,000,000 standard cubic meters of additional gas for Europe in 2027 and 2028.
- Demand for the compressor is expected to cease in the mid-2030s; Troll C operations are expected to continue until around 2050.
