07:43 AM EDT, 10/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Iridium Communications' (IRDM) 3GPP standards-based non-terrestrial network service will be integrated into Altair Semiconductor's ALT1350 and ALT1550 internet-of-things chipset platforms, the company said Wednesday. Iridium NTN Direct uses the company's fully operational low-Earth-orbit satellite constellation and globally coordinated L-band spectrum to extend standards-based connectivity beyond terrestrial networks, it said. The ALT1550 will support a new generation of AI-enabled 5G eRedCap devices, including smart glasses, AI assistants and other wearable products, Iridium said.
