07:37 PM EDT, 10/13/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Retail traders net bought $9.1 billion of US equities last week on Citadel Securities' platform, largely in AI-linked stocks and exchange-traded funds, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing a note from Scott Rubner, the firm's head of equity and derivatives strategy. It was the largest week of net buying in 15 weeks, even as overall trading activity stayed below average, the report said, citing Rubner. Retail investors net bought $2.6 billion of semiconductors, the third-best week of the past year, putting October on track to be the biggest month of net buying for chipmakers on the platform, according to the report. They also bought about $2.4 billion of AI infrastructure stocks. Retail investors bought 2.7% more than they sold, a 90th-percentile reading for weekly directional skew, while gross trading activity was in the 42nd percentile of the past year, the report said.
