Brookdale Agrees to Buy 30 Communities From Welltower, Completes 17-Community Acquisition

04:58 PM EDT, 10/13/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Brookdale Senior Living (BKD) said Tuesday it has agreed to buy 30 leased communities with 1,152 units for $290 million from Welltower. Brookdale said it expects the deal to close during Q4 2026 and to decrease 2027 annual cash rent payments by about $17.8 million. The company said that contingent upon closing the 30-community deal, a separate 39-community lease with Welltower would be extended by four years to June 2036. Brookdale also said it has completed the acquisition of 17 communities with 735 units for a purchase price of roughly $157 million, cutting about $11 million of annual cash rent in 2027.
