Cava's Growth Drivers Don't Need Macro Recovery to Succeed, Analysts Say -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/10/08 17:371337 ET - Cava's earnings growth trajectory hinges on two drivers that look increasingly durable: national expansion and strong unit economics, according to Melius Research in a note. What's more, analysts Jacob Aiken-Phillips and Samuel Barton say that Cava doesn't need a macroeconomic recovery to continue its momentum. "Even as pressure has built across the consumer, CAVA has continued to grow traffic, with its lower-income markets actually producing the strongest same-store sales," they say. The analysts see the decline in Cava's stock in recent months as an overreaction. "We see an attractive entry point into an increasingly de-risked growth story," they say, as they upgrade Cava to buy from hold. Cava is up 3.5%. Signal of a rebound? Goldman Sachs US stock panic index reaches "extreme levels"
Goldman Sachs Volatility Panic Index surged to 9.57, approaching its maximum value, with the largest single-day increase ranking third in history, and the combined two-day volatility setting a new record. Historical data shows that after this index has exceeded the 9.5 threshold 15 times, the S&P 500 has seen an average three-month gain of 4.6% with a success rate of 80%. However, Goldman Sachs traders warn that forced liquidations have not yet fully cleared, and the market is still searching for a bottom, but opportunities on the other side are becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
