BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, has entered the onchain investment market through a partnership with Ondo Finance. BlackRock has created three model portfolios that focus on high income, diversified growth, and high growth strategies.
BlackRock launches tokenized portfolios with Ondo Finance as real-world assets near $9B
BlackRock portfolios tokenized by Ondo Finance
Ondo Finance, a blockchain-based platform specializing in tokenized financial products, has converted each BlackRock portfolio strategy into a single tradable token. These portfolios blend a range of conventional instruments, including stocks, bonds, and Bitcoin ETFs.
Investors can buy, sell, and transfer the tokens at any time, regardless of traditional market hours. This launch comes as the total market capitalization for tokenized real-world assets approaches $9 billion.
Historically, tokenization has focused on individual assets such as equities, bonds, and Treasury products. By bringing entire portfolio strategies onchain, BlackRock and Ondo Finance allow investors to hold a single token that represents a diversified basket of assets, streamlining the investment process.
Coin Bureau, a cryptocurrency education platform, explained the structure on X, noting that BlackRock develops the strategy, while Ondo turns access into an onchain token. The collaboration removes the need for investors to manually manage and rebalance multiple positions.
With this approach, instead of purchasing and constantly adjusting several assets, investors hold one token representing an entire BlackRock investment strategy. This marks a shift toward bringing full asset management onchain.
Because these tokenized portfolios operate on blockchain rails, the tokens can be transferred across wallets and connected to decentralized financial applications, enabling use as collateral or participation in other onchain services. This utility expands the function of the tokens beyond simple holding, integrating them into broader digital finance ecosystems.
Model portfolios represent a major segment within asset management, with Broadridge reporting approximately $9.8 trillion in assets held as of June. The move by BlackRock and Ondo could signal the beginning of onchain distribution for complete investment strategies in this market.

Real-world asset market and global expansion
The debut of BlackRock’s tokenized portfolios comes as real-world assets on the blockchain edge toward a $9 billion market cap. Equities have shown the fastest increase in both holders and trading volume within this sector.
Ondo’s portfolio tokens are entering a rapidly growing market segment. By packaging entire investment strategies into single tokens, BlackRock and Ondo offer a new category of onchain financial product, broadening the use cases for digital assets.
To expand access, Ondo has formed strategic partnerships in Asia, Europe, and Australia. Notably, Mirae Asset in South Korea and SBI in Japan are partnering to distribute the products in their respective markets. These collaborations aim to increase the availability of BlackRock’s tokenized portfolios to investors across these regions.
Coin Bureau also highlighted future advances, such as integrating artificial intelligence to build portfolios customized to individual investor goals, risk preferences, and tax circumstances. Though this technology is not yet available, its integration with tokenized assets could expand possibilities for personalized investment management.
Three key steps mark the progression of onchain finance: stablecoins bringing cash to blockchain, tokenization moving assets onchain, and now BlackRock and Ondo making entire investment portfolios available in a tokenized format. This approach could shift blockchain toward forming part of the backbone of global asset management, beyond simply serving as a settlement system.
