Analyst: Spot Bitcoin ETF Approval May Facilitate Short Positions for Traditional Market Participants

2024/01/16 21:25

Cryptocurrency derivatives trader Gordon Grant suggests that the approval of a spot Bitcoin ETF could make it easier for traditional market participants to engage in short selling. However, Grant notes that borrowing and shorting stocks are normal occurrences in healthy, well-functioning asset markets. He states, "This is crucial for complementary considerations such as options trading, structured products, directional leverage, and more sophisticated instruments."
