Bitcoin is trying to stabilize, but a large number of altcoins are suffering much heavier losses. Futures traders are facing liquidations, confidence has been shaken by a major exchange security incident, and investors are becoming more selective about where they put their money. The second major problem was excessive leverage. CoinDesk reported approximately $1.53 billion in forced liquidations over 24 hours following the selloff. In this environment, coin selection becomes more important than simply buying the entire market. Scenario 3: Another major downside move If Bitcoin loses its recent support areas, macroeconomic pressure increases, or confidence in exchange security weakens again, another wave of liquidations could follow.
